Default Pulling steering column instead of wheel??

Got a problem. The steering wheel on my 91 CC DS is stuck and I wanted to know if the column can be unbolted from the linkage under the dash and the entire shaft pulled then reinstalled to allow me to install my new dash?

The wheel is to the point it will need to be cut off and I do not want to replace it right now. Even took the cart to Club Car and they tried everything they could and just came to same conclusion I did.. The big boy trying to get it off said that he had never had one that bad.

Thanks for any help

They had all different kind of them (stock) and even ones that the mechanic had made and not one that would grab the bottom of the wheel without damaging the inner portion of the wheel. The mechanic even tried using an air hammer while pulling the wheel and it didn't budge.

The CC mechanic did say that there might be a chance to build a really wide puller that might grab the bottom of the and just miss the inner side but said that there was not much clearance.

Pb blaster or something similiar, soak it for a few days, never saw one yet that wouldn't come off sooner or later. Ya gotta be persistent.

Yeah, sounds like I just need to spray that sucker and let her sit for a while.

Plus I'm gonna build a pulley of my own with my welder and some good metal.

Just wanted to put my new wood-grain dash on and what a pain.

Not sure what the new style wheel is, but this sucker just doesn't want to budge from those teeth.

The really weird part was that the CC guy's had not seen a wheel that had a solid section of plastic like what I have. The owner was an older gent and I bet they had 100+ old CC's sitting around the lot.

Should have seen them trying to pull the score card clip piece off. I was laughing and showed them that they needed to remove the two screws on the bottom side and then it popped right off from the wheel.

Okay that is a new style wheel and those guys haven't a clue
I just pulled one ..... CC sells the puller for like 180 dollars so I made one just old conc steel stakes 1/4x1 1/2 and some bolts......I will post some picks but here is how I got started....I believe in PB Blaster But spraying it on and watching it run off is not good enough I cut a 1/2 inch strip of cotton cloth and wrapped it around the shaft above the steering wheel and sprayed every day for a week while I worked on other stuff ..... Your time frame may differ........ I will post pics of the puller I made while you go get this started.....
