12v batteries in a 48v cart// Messed up !!
Hello all !!! I;ll try anything . I put four 12v batteries in my 97 club car .I had 50.5 volts. when I hooked up the solenoid I heard pop. All the fuses are good the backup alarm works the solenoid is clicking like its working but it want run .I replaced the obc last year . What did I mess up this time ??/Live and learn O Boy !!!! Thanks AW

you need to go over all the wiring cause you can use 12 volt batts, depending on what you did you might have burnt the controller...........if its a 97 and the controller is black they are junk anyways but you had to mis wire something.......did the solenoid have a resistor and diode mounted on it?............................................... ....

I agree with shadowman...You had to hook something up wrong. 12 volt batteries will work but your run time will suffer. If you can't find a diagram just ask. Someone will have one.

Ok Up date I"ve gone back with 8 v and put a new controller 300 amp and a new selonoid and it still will not go this was a heavy duty selonoid . the only thing this one was a little different .wasn't sure wheren the small post wentbut i guess and tried, I didn't use the diodes and resisters with this selonoid .What I mess up this time. thanks AW

aw-- jack your car up, then have someone push the pedal for you... see what voltage is getting to the small posts on your solenoid when pedal is depressed with keyswitch on, and car in forward. If you are not getting atleast 48 volts then you have a problem before solenoid, if you are getting voltage then your problem is the solenoid or later. That should help you eliminate half the cars systems anyways...
