The 2 cycle Harley/Columbia engine should be around 8HP. Don't know about the Club Car.

Manual says the belt should be replace after it has worn 1/16". You could try a new belt. The sides of the belt is what wears out. Having a new belt should give you more of a top end since a wider belt will settle higher up on the primary clutch. I couldn't say how much you will gain though.

You shouldn't have to get your speed up to climb a hill but it helps I guess. When you first start going the clutches are in low gear. As you gain speed they are transforming into high gear. Any loss in speed will automatically gear the clutches back down. That's what the flyweel weights do (centrifugal force). If you are moving the clutches are working unless the belt is slipping or some other malfunction.

A big thank you to Backyard! The cart now goes up the hill even with my wife and son with me. I've learned a lot about the cart with the many people that shared their thoughts and wisdom on my thread. This forum is great!
