Gas EZGO Electrical problem
I'm getting 12volts to all studs on start/gen except DF and nothing turns. Also not sure what model i have, so I'm not sure which wiring diagram to use. The manufacturing code is J1687. Is 87 the year?

Re: Gas EZGO Electrical problem
Looks like an 87 to me. The emblem should be in line with the steering column.
Use this manual. |

Re: Gas EZGO Electrical problem
Sweet! Thanks. Question? I have two micro switches on the F/R switch. Is one for forward and the other reverse? Also is the limit switch the one activated by the gas pedal? Thanks

Re: Gas EZGO Electrical problem
One of them is connected to the backup buzzer, and nothing else. I hate noise, so I disconnected mine.
The other one is connected in series with the pedal switch, and the key switch. All 3 of them have to make contact for anything to work. I don't know what the official names are without looking it up. |

Re: Gas EZGO Electrical problem
If you have 12 volts everywhere the chances are your ground is missing enabling everything to float. There should be a large braid from the negative battery post to the chassis. From that chassis point there should be a ground to the F/R switch and a ground to the engine block. Remove the chassis ground and clean the stud and the chassis to bare metal. Clean the cable lugs and make sure you have a good ground to the engine.
If that does not fix it we can move on. Dave |

Re: Gas EZGO Electrical problem
If you go to the sub forum EZGO tech, scroll about half way down you will find the circuit diagram for the 89. I have checked and the wiring matches the colors you quote. SO there lies your answer.
I would recommend that you check the grounds as I mentioned as many problems are caused by bad grounding and it is an easy fix. Dave |

This is my 87. The muffler stands up on the driver's side.

Re: Gas EZGO Electrical problem
Ok i made sure i had a good ground. Ground the frame and tested with power probe. Getting 12v to A1 and F1 and F2. I have no volts on DF. Is this correct. I feel as if the starter gen is bad. Thanks for the help i feel I'm soo close to getting it to run.
