Be sure to use a wire or a torch tip cleaner on al the jets the will look clean and pass carb spray and still be gunked up, these are very small carbs and jets.

I'm familiar with how to clean carbs I've done it on dozens of snowmobiles I highly doubt it's the carb at this point

Post on here where your compression is after its rebuilt. I have the same cart that was supposedly rebuilt shortly before I got it and it test out 110-120 right now. Mine is a smooth running cart so good luck at getting it going. Not an overly powerful motor, but i've been a told a good motor.

And fyi, from research I have done in order to switch to a 4 cycle I have found that it is going to require a new transmission system also. The 2 cycles just spin the motor in reverse for reverse whereas the 4 cycles require a transmission for reverse.

I will be sure to let you know what it gets for compression, I was told by a local dealer here in Wisconsin that it should be close to 150 but only time will tell. New piston and rings should be in next week.

Fair price if they will do it for that. What concerns me is the statement (around 150) Think I'd try to get a firm price so these no sticker shock when done.

I think he is doing the work himself.....I dont think he is saying 150 is the price for the repair...... pretty sure the 150(psi) is the compresion that the dealer told him it should have .....

Yes I'm doing the work myself, the cylinder was in good shape so I'll do a quick hone on it, otherwise the piston with rings and a top end gasket kit was about $85 shipped to the door. Getting anxious to get it back together, the whole weekend has been spend cleaning 23 years of dirt and grime out of the engine bay and off the engine itself. My marathon had to have lost 10 pounds easily!
