Default 1998 dcs

My 1998 EZ GO (DCS)has a problem that I can not figure out.
. the cart ran without problem and once parked it would no run at all
. when the pedal is pushed the silinoid clicks and the motor makes a sound
like it may be bound
. when the cart is on the ground I can not push it forward or back, the cart
acts as if it is in park (it only moves back and forth about 4 inches)
. the cart does not move when on the ground in tow or run mode
. I jacked the cart up and the rear wheels will rotate very easy, the wheels
counter rotate (driver's side forward, passenger side reverse)
. When the cart is lifted it still does not turn the tires when the pedal is
pushed

Could this be a wiring issue? Could the motor have locked up? Can we rule out the rearend?

Please help

Thanks Tom, the controller seems to be about the only thing that seems to have been replaced. Before it stopped moving it would only go into forward, if I switched it to reverse it still went forward. The plugs behind the f/r switch were never hooked up and I was afraid I would run into bigger problems hooking them back together, not knowing

Could you tell us more about the above statement?

I agree with shadowman, it sounds like your DCS controller has gone south.

Can you elaborate on the highlighted parts?

Cool Re: 1998 dcs

This cart was purchased very cheap because the battery trays ahad collasped, all of the wiring was in a bundle. A buddy was in town with a good amount of golf cart knowledge. He got the cart going forward before his time in town was up. He said I needed to get a set of the forward / reverse plugs (two wire connectors) because some wires were missing. The cart ran great forward, when I had to back it up I would put the cart in tow and push it. I can actually hear the silinoid click and hear movement in the motor but the noise the motor makes sounds it is in a bind, like it want to turn but is somehow bound or locked up.

The cart is running without any real repair. The controller is fine but one exposed wire was repaired that may have been creating a ground. Thanks for all your help
