Default The Zebra gets gas build thread

So after weeks of gathering parts and having no time to do anything other than plan in my head I got a few spare hours to work on the project today...
The starting point our 2002 EZ GO "the Zebra" previously 36v PDS cart..

The heart transplant..2000 Yamaha G16 rear subframe and drive unit...

The "Ha dapters" I fabbed up to mount the Yamaha drive unit to the EZ GO leaf springs.

Drive unit installed in the Zebra

Still a bunch to do before a test run but I am feeling pretty pleased it is on it's wheels again not up on jack stands.

They were very close when I measured them...I can put up some measurements tomorrow. The angle the pic was taken from makes it look a little short.

Checked today..both rear axles measure approximately 32.5" backing plate to backing plate.

Got most of the wiring done yesterday.
Hopefully I can fire it up today!

It's always nice when things come together. Nice looking cart and a good job on the change over too gas.

Thanks! I can't take credit for the cart build..it was built professionally for the movie "zookeeper" by East Coast Custom Carts.
I bought it from the second owner because he wanted to sell it off and buy a gas cart LOL.
From reading some of your posts I think we build about the same, I have a huge pile of "stock" (scrap) that is my supply for building from.
I like your cart too it must be quite a ride with all that HP!

My cart does run well and have some torque. Too much for the stock/lifted front end. So I just take it easy. Once I get this round of changes finished then I'll start on a better front end. I already have all the parts for it though.

It's cool to have a famous cart so to speak.

The funny part is that is was just listed on Craigslist as "golf cart" for sale and we didn't even know about the "famous part" until we went to pick it up from the seller.
I didn't get as much done today as I had hoped. Emergency "paying work" came in...no complaints there. I did have time to cut the stock Yamaha panhard rod down and rewelded
it into a torque strut for the front mount of the G16 rear frame. Pics to come soon.
