96 cc need help
Hey, my cc takes off and runs good for a few seconds and then shuts down. After a few seconds it will take off again. Over and over Sometimes it runs good for 3 or 4 holes of golf and then it start doing this again. I changed fuel filters fuel line fuel pump and spark plug. When it gets up to speed it will shut down and if you hold the accel down it will backfire and pop. When it starts to shut down if you let off accel for a few seconds, and then hit the gas again, it will take off again. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

Re: 96 cc need help
I'm a newbie but i'll try to help while you're waiting for a pro. Sounds like you're hitting the rev limiter to me. Have you adjusted your governer cause that would allow the engine to rev high enough to bounce of the limiter. I'd probalby try disconnecting the ground from the rev limiter box and see what happens. It's a little black box on the bottom front of the motor and just taking the black wire loose from it frees you of rpm limit. It would take that out of the equation but you'd have to watch the throttle foot as there would be no engine protection.

Its the rev limiter. Either disable the limiter or adjust the govenor. It's not good for the motor to bounce like that, or so they say.

Re: 96 cc need help
If you disconnect the rev limiter, get a 'tiny tach' or such.....it is easy to over rev one

Re: 96 cc need help
Hey, It was not the rev limiter. I disconnected it and it continued. I pulled the plug when it started cutting out and it had no spark. So I went and got a coil. I removed the old coil and the flywheel is pretty rusty. I will clean it up tomorrow and install the new coil. Hope this works.

Re: 96 cc need help
Just put the new coil in and still no spark. I did not pay attention when I took the old one out. Which way does it go?? Spark plug wire up or down? How much gap between the flywheel and coil? Thanks

Re: 96 cc need help
Any ideas on why it quits getting spark after it runs for 10 or 15 minutes??

Do these machines have point and condensor? If so where are they and could one of them be the problem?
