Solenoid Testing
I have a 74 CC and I need to test the solenoids, I have one speed...Full Speed. Through a Google search I found a posting in BGW by "Cart Doctor" back on August 15 2006. The posting refered to pictures on the posting but I was unable to view these pix. Is there a way to get to the older postings or can someone give me the Readers Digest version on troubleshooting a 4 post solenoid?

Re: Solenoid Testing
when you say 4 post Solinoid , you are talking really 2 Post I assume.
the 2 large post on top Carry the big Voltage and current from the Batteries. The 2 smaller post are control post and will activate with 6 Volts applied to either Open or close the Solinoid (Big Post). 1 of the Solinoids provides power to the Cart and should click when the switch is turned on. Then in order as the gas is pressed each Solinoid should click providing a little more power to the Motor. |

Re: Solenoid Testing
Simply put the solenoid is a switch, when 36v pos and neg is applied to the small posts you shoould have continuity on the big posts. When either the pos or neg is removed from 1 of the small posts the continuity on the big posts should stop.
Buy all 5 solenoids in a set with 5 microswitches. This will short cut your current and future problems. ....hope this helps |

Re: Solenoid Testing
On a solenoid with nothing connected to it, what should I see across the small terminals?
