Need Some Help Boys
Sweet, Sweet, Big Brown Truck just delivered my spankin new high performance motor this morning. I have a 2004 CC IQ. How hard is it to swap out the motor from the stock to the HP? Instructions? Never done this before.
Also, I want to upgrade to 4 ga cables. Is that just on the battery or do I upgrade cables elsewhere too? Does it matter that it's an IQ? Last question, I know this new motor is designed to work with my stock controller, but do I need to upgrade that too, eventually? Much thanks! skm |

[QUOTE=skm2006;207134]Sweet, Sweet, Big Brown Truck just delivered my spankin new high performance motor this morning. I have a 2004 CC IQ. How hard is it to swap out the motor from the stock to the HP? Instructions? Never done this before.

Last question, I know this new motor is designed to work with my stock controller, but do I need to upgrade that too, eventually? Much thanks! Put Tow/Run switch in Tow position Locate and remove main negative lead from battery pack Locate and remove main positive lead from battery pack. Make sure you write down where the 4 wires go that are currently on your motor. (could take picture to be sure) Remove 4 wires on your current motor Remove 3 bolts going from your motor to your case Remove 1 bolt from motor hold down bracket, (larger bolt then the other three from case.) Pull out old motor, being careful of its weight when it will drop, around 50 pounds. (If old motor is stuck use rubber mallet on end of motor case and hit back of motor TOWARDS axle case to help loosen.) Clean up inside of axle case and lightly lube shaft Put new motor on shaft and slide to case Replace all bolts, do not over torque them. (MAKE SURE motor is flush with case before bolting to case!) Replace all wires back to original position using 2 wrenches to make sure you don't spin contact terminals. Replace positive lead back to battery pack Replace negative lead back to battery pack Put Tow/Run switch back to run. Hit the pedal a couple of times in drive and reverse and your done. After you play with it for a while you'll determine what else your after as far as performance. If doing #4 cables you'll do all of them! I think I wrote down everything. By the way, this whole thing without changing the wires should take less then 1 hour. The link below will show some pictures as well from when I did mine. Also attached a battery layout picture as well. Looks like Battery 1 and 6 are your main batteries. http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...et-26-mph.html By the way which motor did you go with for your cart? |

Re: Need Some Help Boys
Thanks man! That should help out a lot. I'm going to put on the new motor and see how it goes. I plan to put a larger controller, 4g cables, and probably an HD solenoid on before the end of the summer.
I went with the Plum Quick motor. Robbie and Ricky at PQ are probably the 2 nicest guys I have ever dealt with when buying something. Seriously, words dont describe. Cant wait to get the motor on! |
