2pg resurrection (2nd cart of the fleet)
Greetings again,
Browsing the ads around here and hoping to find some parts for the cart I already have, I discovered another freebie yesterday morning. Guy said it ran 6 years ago, dropped it off with a local shop to have them go through it so he and his kiddos can have fun with it, long story short shop calls him back says it needs over 1k in parts alone pretty much tried selling him a new cart. I picked it up, said it’s an 88, I didn’t even look at the tag yet and it’s about the same condition as the 1990 3pg I found a few months ago, but a little more complete/original. Pulled the carb to clean, really good shape, must have been replaced somewhere down the line. Sprayed some silicone in the FnR switch and worked it back and fourth, connected a battery, turned the key and stepped on the peddle, she turns over. Pretty good compression too. Might actually take her for a ride around the yard tomorrow and looks like this one may be a better toy for our gang around the yard and woods... not that I’m going to abandon the other one but she needs a little more help then I can provide at the moment. Pics are on the way. |

As promised, here are some pics of the new addition to our fleet.
Biggest drawback of this earlier ezgo is she only has two cup holders! |

Carb looks really good. Throttle cable is a little jacked up. Quite a bit larger than the carb on the 3pg. It’s a mikuni not sure the part number at the moment. Does it look like this is a replacement of the original?

Spectacular for a freebie. Definitely an 88. The throttle cable is rigged completely wrong, but fixable. As long as it says Mikuni, it should be real. That is a BV-24. The throat should be 24 MM wide.
You will find the 88 manual here with the proper cable rigging. https://buggiesgonewild.com/showthre...=105501&page=3 |

Awesome thank you I really appreciate it. Just looked at the manual and see that there is a third cable?
I forget to mention that the steering wheel is broken on this one. Could somebody advise me as to what options there are for steering wheel replacements? Doesn’t necessarily have to be ezgo brand but something that fits the splines on the shaft or what I should look for when finding a universal replacement. Is there standard sizing for these? |

Cables were throttle, choke, governor, and oil injection. I see that yours never had oil injection, and you certainly don't want a governor.
They added a spring to yours. Does the pedal still return to the up position on its own when the throttle is disconnected? |

Re: 2pg resurrection (2nd cart of the fleet)
I pulled the spring off and the pedal does return Got it out in the woods today, feels promising. I’ll have to button up the driver seat back and figure out a steering wheel for now. Choke cable is seized as expected so that will be placed in the shopping cart soon.
I’m running the same 60:1 fuel in that I was running in the 3pg... I just couldn’t bare the thought of running the recommended 128:1. Just sounds very unusual to me. I use bel-ray h1r oil mix which is normally 32:1 / 40:1 for motocross bikes. Any recommendations on ratio for 2pg engine? |

I just use the 128:1 that the manual says. It's low compression, and low revving so I am happy with that.
I have heard that some guys run them hard in the woods, and mix 100:1. |
