Default Lithium Batteries minimum charge before a recharge

Hi All-

On my Nissan Leaf Pack, I know I have my charger set to a max charge of 4.1 volts.

At what point would you recommend a recharge? how many volts?

I do have a 36v system so 41v is my max charge

Thanks
Jeff

I personally never go below 3.25vpc and usually recharge at 3.5vpc or higher.

Others may go lower, but the capacity below 3.25vpc is miniscule really and the pack V is 45.5 at 3.25vpc so the cart is going a lot slower at that voltage anyway. I charge to 4.1vpc for 57.4 total volts on my 14S pack.

---------- edit ----------
Since you have a 10S pack at 3.5vpc you'll be noticing a degradation in performance anyway. The cart will start to drag along since you are lower total V than your stock lead acid pack.

I guess it depends on how far you are from the charger

There is only about 5AH left below 3.5v so you better be pretty close to charger.

As Sergio says, when you get down to 3.5V, you have almost no capacity left so that is a good lower limit. If you get the discharge curve for your particular batteries, you can estimate fairly accurately how much charge you have left at a given voltage. I try to never let my pack go below 20% SOC.

I have my audible alarm set at 3.3v per cell and low voltage cutoff at 3.25v, but Im using 12S on a 36v system.
