Default Re: Duromax xp16 Exhaust header

I'm currently installing the 16hp duromax in a ezgo, tight fit! the spark plug wire is hitting the back frame and the angled exhaust it proving to be the hardest part of the whole build. I bought the clone gx390 header from gopowersports. i will have to return it, because it wont mount on the studs much less clear the head. I really want to try the stock muffler with the 440 , but if it doesn't work i plan on using the 22229.

Does anybody know what exhaust flange fits this engine properly? I plan on using a flex pipe like Hollywood.
Thinking about modifying the stock manifold to clamp flex pipe as a quick fix to test with but would like a welded exhaust on the completed project.

Hollywood , i saw your review on Duromax's website. Wonder how long till the parts folks start making a specific header for this motor?

It is a pain no one is building an aftermarket header for the Duromax. It took me around an hour to cut up and weld a plate with the correct size drilled hole and a muffler bend i found on Amazon to complete the head end. It took a couple hours to do the complete muffler install after i had all the parts.

By the way, the Duromax 16 seems to have plenty of power with the governor removed. I have not modded the carb and dont feel its really necessary. If I hot lap it down the street and let my foot off easy it doesn't backfire at all. I may eventually swap up to a Predator V-twin more for the v-twin sound and the build project than for the need for power.
My next project is to build a full roll cage and do a seat recover in black . Also I want to do some type of double a arm front end to get camber under control.. and get a bit better ride.

I still wonder if just swapping to a regular clone head might be a simpler solution ?

actually, making a flange to fit the head, cutting an angle off the pipe and welding it up was cheap and took a hour. easy fab.
