Update: I am waiting for my engine to get rebuilt at Motors and More. They have had it since Nov 20th. I did call late this week and confirmed that the block is at the machine shop. At least I haven't paid anything yet lol

Finally got word that my engine is being assembled and bench tested today. Hopefully it will be ready to ship out tomorrow? The cart has been frozen in place, collecting dust in my shop. Anxious to get it going.

The word from M&M, the engine needs a new crank. Another $325 but supposedly it's genuine Ezgo parts.

The cost breakdown looks like this:

Engine Rebuild: $700
includes new Ezgo pistons and connecting rods and bearings/gaskets

New Crankshaft: $325

Shipping both ways: $80

Grand total: $1105

Supposed to be fully assembled Monday and shipped out. Looks like next weekend the engine will get installed.

Given what you know now of the core, would you do it again, assuming there are no other upcharges? or, would you pull the motor apart, mic everything to make sure it is within specs (all the specs are in the engine tech manual), and decide from there? A rebuild kit is about $300 without the crank, so even if you rebuilt it yourself, you are at $625 give or take.

This one was out of spec and needed bored. It had scoring on one cylinder too. They include the machining in that cost, so add $80 to the $625. Not sure a $300 kit is ezgo parts or not. They claim all their parts are factory. But even at $705, paying $400 more to have it done correctly is worth the cost, and it'll have a warranty. I'm pretty good with engines, but I'm not an engine builder. So there's that.

I got the cart for $400, so I'll have a workhorse for $1500 that should last me years. My wife likes the cart since it's low to the ground and easy to operate.

To be honest I haven't even unboxed it yet I started back training Hapkido on Sat and I was beat! Too sore and back was on fire so I just took it easy, plus it was 20 degrees on Sun. Tomorrow is a free day for me.
