Predator 670 charging coil
Looking at the 670cc Predator twin for our Harley limo cart.
We have a lot of electronics and want to keep the batteries from being depleted. Aside from putting a pulley on the crankshaft and running an alternator to keep the battery charged, has anyone ever swapped out the 6amp charging circuit with anything larger? The gx670 on my tractor has a 20amp circuit and would like something like that. Thanks Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk |

Re: Predator 670 charging coil
I though it had a 3 amp not 6 amp?
I was hoping someone figured this out by now, as I want to do a 670 swap also |

Re: Predator 670 charging coil
Maybe just pay the Xtra $'s for the 22 hp lifan with the 18 amp charging system. I see it is on special at home depot for $749.

Re: Predator 670 charging coil
That’s $150 more though but might be a good option

Re: Predator 670 charging coil
I too have an original Honda GX670. The Predator 670 is more of less a clone of this engine. It is not an "exact" copy, but I have read that some parts are interchangeable. Here is some info I found about the charging circuit that may help you out.

Re: Predator 670 charging coil
Thank you. I stumbled across that post as well. Too much work for my liking, and voiding the warranty to boot.
Where we use our cart is fast and we have 23"s on the drive axle, with a 780 comet and g2 rear end. I think the lack of a powerful charging circuit is going to force my hand in choosing the Lifan 420 with 18amp charging circuit instead. I have owned a Lifan before (Carroll Stream motor co) and it was ultra reliable. Here is the cart I am rehabbing. Regardless, the old opposed 18hp briggs is being replaced with a nice honda clone and a racing header and muffler. Sent from my SM-G930P using Tapatalk |

Re: Predator 670 charging coil
If you aren't running with the rpms up the charging coil may not keep up all the time. Those engines are designed to run constant at their peak rpm. You might want to consider a mini alternator. Some members here have done that. They can be set up to charge at lower rpm with the right pulleys.

This may be the cheapest way to go. The hook up is one wire and at 35 amps you shouldn't have any dead batteries. |
