Default Easy way to adjust valves on Yamaha G2

The Yamaha G2 manual explains how to adjust timing and valves on the G2 by taking off the cover to expose the balancer, crank shaft gear and lining up the dots to find the Top Dead Center. then adjusting the valves to 0.10 mm or (0.004 inches)

It seems simple enough that you should be able to simply remove the spark plug, insert a skinny flat head screw driver while spinning the clutch to find the top dead center and then adjust the valves?

I don't want to sound lazy but just curious if anyone has an opinion one way or the other. I appreciate any input

The G2 has no compression release and a mild cam. Like my clone and other small engines, with the other valve fully opened I adjust the lash. You can see this method in the clone section stickies

That is same video as is one in the sticky in the clone section. One of the Warners or another. I think Geoff filmed it and Aaron posted it

yup it is. I posted the link here because it took me 30+ minutes to find it. Always simpler for the next guy, especially the NEW GUY like myself, to just click a link.

One further admission. I don't bother pulling the spark plug out. I use the reasoning why put more wear on the aluminum head's threads
