2006 Precedent discharged batteries
Working on a neighbors 2006 Precedent 48 volt cart. She parked it for the winter and now there is no power and charger will not come on. Can I use a
12 volt auto trickle charger to get the batteries up to high enough charge to finally get the powerdrive II charger to come on? thanks |

You can try that - just charge each battery separately and then plug the cart in and see if the charger will come on. I wouldn't be too optimistic about the batteries lasting though.

Batteries are May 2011. Not sure how she got them to go this low.
No headlights, no power. Any idea how long to charge them? Could you disconnect the series and charge each 12 volt off a running automobile? |

You do not have to disconnect them just charge each battery individually, with a 12 volt charger set on around 6 amps,,,
check the water first though!! |

Re: 2006 Precedent discharged batteries
You just have to charge each one until it's up high enough for the regular charger to work. They should come up to that level pretty quickly if they are any good. You do not have to disconnect anything. Just hook your automotive charger to one battery at a time and make sure you observe the correct polarity. Check the voltage every few hours. Don't leave it overnight because your automotive charger is designed to charge 12V batteries and I am assuming that you are talking 8V batteries. If the cart has 4 - 12V battereis, the automotive charger will work fine. If they are 8V, then you don't want to leave it on too long or you may overcharge them.
