05 ez go buying advice
Im looking at finally buying a cart after reading this forum for months.
What advice do you guys have in what to look out for? Is there a way to check batteries on site other than a test drive? Price and options are below market on the one that I am going to look at. Pictures can be misleading but? I have tried using the search feature without much luck. |

05 E-Z-GO cart buying,
Is it a PDS are a fleet cart? PDS are great carts and have the best stock speed but are more expensive to modify. Fleet carts are a little cheaper in the long run to modify but lack speed in stock form. Batteries, first look at - terminals for the code date. A01 are G11. A= Jan 01 = 2001 batteries so they are 10 years old. New batteries to begin with. G= July 11 = 2011 Batteries so they are new! Better buy for the same cart other than batteries so if you pay a little more up front you saved a bunch over all. Take a volt meter with you and see what every battery is reading and ask how long it's been off the charger. A good set of batteries holding a good charge should read 38.20 for a 36 volt cart after 12 hrs off the charger. |

Re: 05 ez go buying advice
Go to a reputable Dealer and you won't have to go thru hoops with a meter.
Check the history of the Cart. Florida carts are used year round and rack up the mileage. Northern Carts are in harsh environments, but, probably low mileage. Golf course carts are probably well maintained. Mid-atlantic carts probably have moderate usage and maybe are replaced on a predetermined schedule, even though the carts are good. Good Luck....... |

Re: 05 ez go buying advice
welcome to BGW...........not to be nabby but in ohio what are you paying for an 05? if your good with a meter and can use a hydrometer you can get a good idea about the batteries.......but if they are original than there at least 6 years old so already your kind of iffy.......price dictates................

Look under the cart, check for rust, fresh spray paint etc, follow the other recommendations as well. Look at the front and rear axle as well. It is not uncommon to find one that has been damaged, and of course test drive it. Good luck post some pics.

Re: 05 ez go buying advice
Pretty clean. It is a txt with mid 2008 interstate batts. Owners other vehicles are clean.
Drove fine. It is what many of the posts have said: 2005 carts that have been redone and sold by dealer. He paid 6930 and is selling for for 3200. It couldn't find a serial number that was legible. I forgot my volt meter before driving up. I'm going to read some posts on the txts before making a decision |

Re: 05 ez go buying advice
I went ahead and took it for 3100.
I did forget to mention that it has tons of acc and aftermarkets: Lift Kit, ITP wheels/tires, full length roof, rear seats with safety bar, arm rest and tow hitch. Street ready with turn signals, mirror, windshield , etc. New charger and full storage cover. I have the bill of sale from the dealer and he paid almost 7k with the new batteries. I looked up the options on the supporting websites and alone seem to make it a good deal. Before cash leaves my hand tommorrow I will volt meter the batteries as they will be standing over night. I agree on all that you guys are saying. Up here, I cant find anything this clean and street ready below 4k. I would prefer a pds but for a simple campground machine, Am I missing something. |
