48V 105AH Atlas Battery wont wake up/ turn on?
See attachments for pictures.
Blue light is on around the on/off button. 2.6V is present the main terminal lugs. When the on button is pressed a rapid red flashing light illuminates on the BMS. There is no change in the voltage at the main terminals. I tried charging it in parallel with a working 48V battery. It did not wake up. I tried holding down the on button for 10 sec. Does anyone recognize the BMS or know what troubleshooting procedure I might follow? Supposedly the battery was pulled from a cart with 50 miles on it and it was working before storage. My hope is that perhaps one of the cells is just low. But I’m unsure how to get it up and running. I tried all the usual BMS applications. Nothing will connect to it. If I wanted to check the voltages of each of the cells, how would I do that? One probe on the negative main terminal and then a positive probe on each of the blue wires? |

Apparently the ANT bms had a flaw where it will completely drain battery if left in storage. The total pack voltage is 7 V. :(
It’s crazy that the thing that supposed to protect it, it will kill it. What a design flaw. |

You might be able recover the cells by slowly charging them individually. Not sure if the BMS will reboot and recover or if it will have bricked itself.

I would junk that BMS if it's discharging the cells. A decent BMS should shut down when the battery is not in use and draw minimal current. Most have a shutdown feature so you can leave the battery for an extended period of time. Measure the individual cells! Get directly to them if you have to. If they are really that low, they are junk. Especially if you see any signs of swelling. You can charge them individually with a power supply if you are careful not to overcharge them. I would watch them carefully while doing that.

Wow that is wild that a bms from a somewhat reputable company like ANT would behave in that manor!
I hope your pack is ok or that Atlas stands behind it and replaces it! |
