Default 2024 RXV Elite Dead Battery

Howdy — long time member first time poster. I bought a 2012 ezgo txt48 which needed a lot of work but found all the info I needed in the forum. We’ve been driving it and enjoying quite a bit, but started getting bored with how reliable it is and started considering getting another one to fix. Well, I came across a 2024 RXV Elite at what seemed like a price too good to be true. The battery is completely dead. I put a short video together of what I’ve tried so far. I’m definitely over my head, but there are no deadlines so just trying to learn rather than dump a pile of money on a new battery. Any ideas welcome.
Thanks, nik

Did you try using the official ezgo elite charger first? The charger has special communications between the BMS and itself, a dumb charger won't work.

Second, you'll want a Curtis handset or PC software to help diagnose. You can jump the cart by attaching your power supply to the battery terminals, this will turn the controller on, and hopefully establish CAN bus communications with the BMS for further troubleshooting.

The topside terminals are the output from the BMS, they will be 0v if the BMS is off or in a fault condition. There are direct to the cells terminals hidden underneath, you can measure the true battery voltage there.

With it being a 2024, isn't it under warranty? Or was this a write off for some reason?

Those carts come with a very good warranty on the battery. I didn’t se a photo of the battery charger. Also if you have a neighbor with a Ezgo that has a lithium battery see if you can borrow their charger. I say try the easiest first.

Thanks — i am still trying to figure out if the battery is of any use. It should be under warranty but I am not the original owner so not sure how that would work, if at all. I’m guessing no cigar.

I will try getting the pc connector. Should be helpful. Any ideas on the relay clicking noise?

This is how far I have made it (this time embedded):

Those clicking noises are concerning, where are they coming from? It might be the cart contactor and not the battery itself.

Disconnect the leads from the battery and try powering the cart only from the power supply. Then we will know where the clicking is from.

Definitely not from the battery. It’s coming from controller area. There appear to be two fuse holders there and one of them seems to have blown the fuse (5A i think). I am guessing this is related to the root cause of why it got left uncharged for a long time.

Will get the power supply hooked up directly but guessing same outcome, clicking noise…

A service manual would be great or at least a wiring diagram. Between the 2012 txt48 and this one it’s a whole different ball game in terms of wiring

If it has factory lights and DC DC converter, that could be the relay clicking.

If it doesn't have those, the only other thing that would click is the main contactor for the controller.
