Default Lithium battery fire in Liberty?

This happened near me, in coastal SC yesterday. We have been having
unseasonably cold temps this week. Nights around 27 degrees F and daily highs at about 34-35.

Could this cart have caught fire due to charging the lithium battery in below freezing temps or some other reason? I would've thought that the BMS would have prevented a fire.

BMS is supposed to, it has temperature sensors.

Was it being charged at the time, was the battery the source of ignition? Probably needs to be investigated.

It's my understanding that the cart was left plugged in on Sunday but the fire started 3 days after that. It was left unused at this house for those few days.

I'm not sure what the source of the fire was, but the house burned to the roof directly above the cart before the FD put it out.

I don't know - however I think it has whatever EZ Go installs at the factory level. This was not a cart converted to lithium in the aftermarket.
