Default inside a 72 volt lithium battery?

I have a salvage cart I trying to save.

Has anyone know about taking apart a 72 volt lithium battery.

The battery is in a metal box, very tightly packed.

thx

Randy

Pretty typical construction for it.

Several of us here have built our own.

I've never seen cells like those used in a golf cart battery.

Hi,

I dug deeper into the Battery pack.

It appears to be 20 cells in series to achieve the 72 volts?

Several of the cells appear still functional. They show about 3.2/3.5 volts.

The question is the entire pack is supposed to be 170AH.

If I understand series and parallel, then there are no parallel cells.

then the individual pack is capable if 170AH at 3.5 volt?? WOW Is that possible?

Amp Hours have nothing to do with Volts! A 72V pack should be 20 cells in series. If each cell is 170AH, then the pack is 170AH.

Just seeing this, but I hope you have those pouch cells stored in a place far away from anything else. Since the damage they have been through, think of them as ticking time bombs. 20 in series means the are Li-ion, not LiFePO4. They will absolutely combust if unhappy, and it will be fast and violent. Make sure they are separated from each other, and do not puncture any of the cells!
