Default FJ FDEV Internals - Evolution, TAO, others

When the FJ PC App software (Evolution Programming Tool or TAO Motors Programming Tool or others) starts up, you click the DATA button and load an FDEV data file.

The FDEV file defines the FJ Motor Controller configuration (aka Device Profile). This defines the parameters that are read/written to the controller, the menus that you see on the Programming Tool and some special fields such as device type and match key.

The attached PDF gives an overview of the FDEV internals while attempting to not go too deep into the weeds.

Hi Robster35, Did you have any luck finding the download for the FDEVit utility download? I have a Tao Motors cart with the FJ controller like the Evolution. I can NOT get the Tao Motors programming tool to write to the controller. It connects to the cart, I can watch live data from the cart and controller and goes through everything to change the field including turning yellow indicating an pending change to write to the controller but will not change anything. Matt has been very patient and helpful even to the point of sending me another cable to try. Yesterday I checked the continuity of the wires from the PC port to the controller to make sure there was not a broken wire in the harness. Can anyone help with this problem?

If you connect and see live data, it's not the cable. In order to see live data, there's several handshakes that must be successful. So you are sending and receiving data over that cable.

What version of the TAO tool are you using?

What version of FDEV and FLIC are you using? Tell me file names.

What parameters are you changing? Can you provide a screen shot before and after pressing set button? Any errors seen?

The programming tool writes a log file that may be useful but it takes a few steps to enable. Are you comfortable with traversing windows folders and editing a config file?

Thank you Evoster,
Ok first the version on Tao Programming tool is 2.1.4. Matt the cable manufacturer was only trying the replacement cable to rule out anything else that may be preventing the write communication to the controller.
The .FDEV and .FLIC files are ACS1-20210427-1-E-C.fdev
ACS1-20221112-1(中英文).fdev
License-HDK-20201118114751.flic
I have followed the instructions for placement of the .FLIC file in the directory with with the .exe file for the Tao Programming Tool. and any combination of the .Fdev files when I load them in the progamming tool.
As for the parameters I am changing I have changes several mainly Max Forward speed from 1 to 500 in the Standard gear mode tab and the zonal gear mode tabs. I have tried to change the Current Energy Mode to anything else and it will not change. Yes I am proficient in both windows and Mac. As in my original question, I would not be against using the utility to change the Read / write limits listed in the .FDEV and .FLIC internals.PDF documents out there to possible make this work. Again thank you for your response and help in this matter. I will gladly give my email address so you can communicate outside here easier. Kelly

If I did this correctly here is the computer screenshot for the Tao Programming software up to and after clicking the SET button with no errors or anything happening. No changes. Thank you again.

The TAO programmer 2.1.4 comes with the file "License-涛涛车业-20220728093738(1).flic"

Does that flic not work and that's why you switched to the HDK?

I can't read your screenshot, it's like the thumbnail was posted and I can't see any details.

I've sent you a private message with debug log instructions. Maybe try sending me the screenshot again in the PM reply

have you tried the FJ programmer here?

I think it'll work for Tao. I forget though, it might need a different flic or fdev. Try it out
