Default One cart for fun has ballooned into 4 carts.

First off I just want to say I was browsing this forum so much for help during all these projects and I truly appreciate all the member posts here .

I initially picked up a cart for fun end of September early November last fall. Thought it would be nice to tinker with an old 2 stroke Yamaha G1 and make a cart to take to lake.

Grabbed this old beater that turned out to need a lot more work than thought and motor was junk.

So ended up working on it with my daughter and making into a General Lee cart.

https://mainecabinliving.com/forum/GL2.jpg

Did I mention the motor was junk? Found that out hard way after finished getting it ready. So I found a package deal for 2 carts on FB scampalace I couldn't pass up. Had a beat up G1 camo cart with lift kit, decent tires and a good motor. (I was hoping was good). Brought them home.

Installed the lift kit, tires and motor swap into GL cart. Now I had a beat up cart to do something with and decided to have fun with it for wife. Turned that cart into this cruiser with a functional side pipe exhaust and hula girl. This needed a motor so I did a Predator 224 swap and worked out great except no reverse. I learned about that from this site btw Also learned from this site I needed best option of a G2 or G9 rear diff and assembly for control or a cheap parts cart. Excuse the weird dash on it since the camo cart had just a large hole there with no dash and I hadn't decided to do the cruiser when I made the dash.

So...back to FB scampalace and found a cheap G9 cart that was missing some parts from engine but had what I wanted. BUT when I got it home I realized it was in too good shape to part out since it was a utility cart with a fold down tailgate. After I explained to the wife she wasn't getting reverse yet. I did a makeover on that cart too and added a Predator 420 motor setup. Even put new seat covers on it.

So that leaves still needing a g2/g9 setup for reverse for wife and the green beast cart. That ezgo I am giving to a friend at the lake who has some recent mobility issues and am not looking forward to fixing that electric 36v setup. No clue and hate electric. I lovingly named it Kermit and got a stuffed kermit for it and decals. I did put a nice cup hold, headlights and a horn for him though.

So the fun continues. Not as impressive as some of the really customized carts by members here but they really are a lot of fun to work on.

I ended up with two carts within two weeks-if I had that type of workspace we'd be in the same boat. Good luck with the projects, that light green cart already looks awesome!

Looks like you are having lots of carting fun.
Once bitten golf carts tend to multiply like rabbits.

I have to say you guys are right about this. These things are a ton of fun to work on and make custom changes to. I am really enjoying checking out the carts and projects everyone else here has. Some really cool stuff.

My first cart was a free Melex. Broken down with parts no longer available. I turned around and there were 10 of them, one in every corner of every building

lol. I can see how that is easy to do Scotty. I love working on these gas carts. The electric not so much That green ez go Marathon I need to get working right and finish it. Thing does not want to go unless on a flat surface. Already tested the batteries and all good (not great but good). Lots of corrosion though so need to clean up everything under there.

That cart sits so low and has a small step up and seats are low so perfect for my friend who is having issues. Long story short when I bought a place in northern NH on a small lake he helped me with always getting the right people when I needed something done. He is like the mayor there. Wasn't treated like an outsider. And when I had cancer treatments going on year and half ago he had relatives take care of things for me so now he is having issues and I will take care of him. Anyways...I just want to fix it up without getting juiced.

There are some serious carts on this site. I didn't even know some of these things were being done. Its crazy but they look amazing.

He sounds like a good friend. I suspect the batteries are partially at fault for the poor performance. Buy an in dash battery meter and watch the voltage under load. Voltage sag under load causes poor performance.
If the batteries need replacement go with a large single lithium battery. They cost less and perform better than lead acid plus there are no watering and corrosion issues. GL

Thanks for the tip Scotty. I have done a bunch with solar and Lifep04 batteries but not in a cart. If this cart ends up needing them I will switch it over and will have to do some research on here for exactly what I need for the ez go marathon (later model with speed controller etc) to do that conversion.

Thanks scottyb and others for all the input on the ezgo electric cart. I just bit the bullet and ordered the chins 36v single lithium golf battery kit with 100ah and 200a bms. Going to just get this cart done right and as easy as possible for him. Cheers and many thanks!!
