Default G-1 preditor 420 conversion.

Got a couple questions . Need a clutch for the predator. 1 inch shaft. I was going to buy a " COMET " for the 275 bucks but heard some of the aftermarket ones are ok for 100 bucks less. If thats so can anyone recommend the EXACT ONE? Always looking for low budget builds!
Last question will the pulse fuel pump run the 420 predator carb?

I purchased the more expensive comet clutch for my 420 build. It is already setup for 2000 rpm idle speed. The 420 idles at 17k or 18k i believe. You would need to change out springs and weights in that cheap clutch since it has a 11k idle speed. So all depends on how much work you want to do vs getting the clutch done already. I was very happy with mine.

For the fuel pump to work with any vacuum pump you will need to drill the 420 for that and can be done in a couple of ways. Some people change the carb and do it on an aluminum spacer provided and some were doing it on the crankcase.

I personally chose to use the stock gas tank from the 420 in a mount I made to gravity feed on my g2 build. On my g1 build with a predator 224 I did the same with the stock 224 gas tank and both work great. Less capacity but not an issue.

I can post a couple pictures of each setup later if you like.

Thanks a ton!!!!! Post more pics if you want like to see some throttle and choke hook ups! Really appreciate the help!!! Where did you purchase the clutch? What model Comet did you use for yours?

Sorry for asking you the same question you already had the info in your response. Had to reread it twice. In a hurry I guess?

Clutch will depend on if you are using your stock starter /gen to start with that or using the key setup on the predator 420. I relocated the stock key setup on 420 to the front of my cart on the g2. I use the stock g1 starter/gen on the g1 one to start it so I needed a double pully. If you are using the key setup (easiest in my opinion no need for the extra pulley). I ordered that one through gopowersports https://www.gopowersports.com/780-driver-clutch/

Drop down lets you choose the knock off or legit comet. I purchased the comet.

I can post more pics later or can share my builds I put on youtube with a link here. Not sure if it is ok with the forum rules though or allowed. It isn't a commercial youtube channel (and not very good tbh ). I started doing videos little over a year ago to help with speech and memory issues from tongue cancer treatments of radiation and chemo shortly before that. The channel has helped with that and also get strength back working on projects so don't get your hopes up for great production quality lol.

The basic setup for throttle and choke were basically the same on both my g1 and g2 projects but much easier on the g1 for the choke setup.

I did a quick post on here about the key move on the 420

Please keep in mind I am not expert lol and just started doing carts in September last year. But do custom hot rods, motorcycles etc so no stranger to mechanical stuff.

Well since it doesn't appear to be against any forum rules since I am not posting a commercial youtube site and just my personal one to help you with seeing better in video what I did (not necessarily correct way but my way).

https://www.youtube.com/@senselessfun/videos

That is my video list and has a lot recently of the 3 carts I have done and will have some on the ezgo I am doing to give my friend at lake.

These two are posted up on youtube but not live to public yet but you can watch the last 2 on the predator 420 swap with these links. The rest on the projects including the part 1 of motor install are live.

Part 2 engine swap: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vW2BoONWoeQ

First test fire of motor and first test drive: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=piCwM4POal0

If I have broke forum rules or etiquette doing this please mods delete this or let me know and I will.

Good luck on your project!!! But most of all have fun with it!
