Voltage Battery Meter Into Ingition - Advise please
I’m trying to install a voltage battery meter onto my 03 Ezgo. I have it hooked to the battery pack correctly. That was easy. I also have the Positive and negative wiring connected to The meter correctly. My problem is getting the meter connected to the key switch and it actually working when them key is turned on. I currently have 4 prongs one the back of my key switch. Two of them have wires going to them that serve the purpose of powering the cart. If either are removed, the cart won’t go. The other 2 ports/prongs whatever they are called don’t do anything when I connect the meter to one of them. What am I doing wrong? I am very novice and just got my first cart that I am trying to fix up. Thanks for any help.

The two that don’t do anything to power the cart should be for the lights.

Depending on the switch, you will have to tie into the "cold" side of the switch. Does it have screws or tabs? If it has screws just put an eyelet on the wire and attach to the cold side.

Can you use a volt meter? If so place red lead on the wires at the key switch with the key off. Put the black lead on the battery pack negative. Find the wire that doesn't have a reading with the key off. Tie the meter to that one and it should turn On/Off with the key.
Personally I like mine to be on all the time. I like to know what the charger is doing when I plug it in. These meters would take a 6 months to a year to kill a battery pack. That's if you never charged it. But to each their own. |
