Default swapping newer powerplant into older cart

i have a decent cart from the tag its a 72 but the motor was bad and probably the switch as well it had the 10 spline motor that stuck up between the batterys well i just picked up a good cart the other day an 88 it has the motor on top of the axel ,the cart was beat to hell i stripped it and was planning on putting every thing in the older body (resistor board wireing f/r switch motor axel ) i just droped the rear springs and left everything attached
it looks like it will fit? i havent gotten around to taking the old one out yet
has any one done it before?

sorry for the big pics

the yellow cart was a freebe

The yellow one is a 1977 X440.

I personally prefer 4 wheels to 3 so if the 77 can be the donor to the 88 that's how I'd do it. But maybe not if body is beat up too badly. JMO. Not sure if shackles will line up on the different rears but am curious to know so keep posting the rebuild pics.

Good luck with your new addiction.

it all lined up and works i just used the stock springs that where on it was easer to do instead of getting the spring hangers off and on i had to notch out the metal lip under the motor cover because it stuck down to far and the motor would be in the way pic is before it was notched out ill have go load up some more better pics of it you can see in theone pic whare the motor would hit its before it was notched out i also had to switch the break cables so it would work on the rear end works good now the ol lady is bitchin about all the stuff i got so ill probabily have to get rid of it to keep her quiet i guess the 5 other carts i have are part of the reason

now i need some good batterys mine i had sitting hrer cracked from cold and not enough charge
im in dayton ohio

Think maybe you could drop a comma or period in that phrase every once in a while? I ran out of breath three times reading it!!!
