Default yamaha g2 plastic body question

new to the forum and just purchased my first cart a yamaha g2 in really good shape but i would like to paint it, but here is my question. the local golf cart dealer says that the g2's bodys have oil inpregnated into in the plastic and that paint and decals will have a had time sticking. any truth?

I haven't painted mine but many others have on here.the bodies do have oil to help the come from the molding process when they are manufactured. I would think a hood washing and spraying of adhesion promoter will a that would be needed from what I have read.I'm sure someone with better experience will chime in.

So the plastic bodies have what they call mold release on them to help them come out of the mold. Just scuff the body lightly with red scotchbrite, wax nad grease remover and hand dry right after and then apply adhesion promoter, you may then apply either primer or paint. The adhesion promoter basically softens up the body just a bit to accept product over it with good adhesion.
