Default What to mix with bedliner to tint?

I'm trying to keep costs down on the resto of my cart, but am dead set in a dark grey bedliner for the frame. If I buy dark grey, it will cost about $140. If I go black, I can get some for about $50. Is there a type of white paint that will mix well with the bedliner to tint it the shade of grey I am looking for to save me a bit of $? I'm not finding any answers online.

they do not mix well. the color is a chemical mix from what i remember.

id consider something other than bedliner for the frame as its thick and textured. maybe some industrial epoxy paint

Maybe get a different brand of bedliner? There are other brands out there that sell in colors. LineX, Grizzley, Duplicolor, etc.

That's the thing. I can get duplicolor black on eBay for $50, or any other brand in dark grey for around $140. I planned to go with the thick texture because of the salt air here in Miami just eats away at everything. I plan to rust prep it, paint it with POR15, then beeline to make sure it's something I never have to worry about, even if something fairly significant scrapes the frame.

What about painting over the top of the bedliner?

Not a bad idea. That would be three coats, but it just might work with an epoxy or oil base.

bedliner is insanely oily. it would be like spraying pam then trying to paint

Looks like Herculiner is available in gray now.

Thanks! The problem is the cost. I can find the right color, just not what I want to spend. If black is $50 and I can lighten it, it's cheaper than buying ready made grey for $140.

Just found the answer- it is enamel based, so I can mix it with white enamel to make it the shade I want. I called Duplicolor. Makes me wonder though- if all it is is enamel paint and a particulate, why can't I make it at home? Hmmmmm...
