Re: Vintage Columbia Car Corp. Parcar?
Looking good. I know it's a lot of work now but the feeling you get when it's done and the looks it will get will be well worth the effort. That's why I am doing my own too! Keep up the good work and keep updating us on your project.!

Re: Vintage Columbia Car Corp. Parcar?
Got this off the other day but it got dark before I could document.
This leaf spring is 36" and apparently nothing uses that size anymore. EZGO uses 28" and Club car 32". I tried the trailer parts place but same problem. They sent me to the junkyard to look for something but that was a wild goose chase. So my plan was to cut off the mount on one side and mount something standard. I'm still hunting for geese at the moment. |

Re: Vintage Columbia Car Corp. Parcar?
After using the rust remover you need to paint fast otherwise it turns white (oxidation? lime?) and sometimes rust again
I then use the grinder to remove it all again.... I did this a couple times before giving it up and painting. |

Re: Vintage Columbia Car Corp. Parcar?
Used more of the rusty metal primer to keep it from rusting up on me. I plan on giving everything a final coat of black one I'm ready.

Re: Vintage Columbia Car Corp. Parcar?
Time to get to work on the rusty metal removal.
I used the grinder to attack the weld points, and then peeled it back with a hammer. Aww yeah I am getting a bunch of this white runoff....I hate it. Last edited by modeem; 05-29-2010 at 05:03 PM.. Reason: elaboration |

Re: Vintage Columbia Car Corp. Parcar?
Those weld points are a real pain in the arce. Loud too.
I got plenty of rusty metal removed. Before the storm came rolling in and ended my workday early. Look at that ugly textron.....its a deathtrap...bypassed accelerator, put it in forward and away you go at full speed, and no brakes. |
