Default Vintage Columbia Car Corp. Parcar?

I was told this was an EZGO when I bought it. I cringed when I saw the EZGO serial guide and it looked like this was a 1950's EZ GO.

I Cleaned the VIN plate and saw it was Columbia Car Corp

Stripped Down a bit.

It has a Solenoid Speed control system like these diagrams.

And a Baldor 36v Direct Current Motor

Does anyone know what year this is?

The first thing I wanted to do was test the motor to make sure it was worth the time the restoration would take and the money the parts would take. At least 1 Solenoid, (2) 200Ah 6V and a rear leaf spring.

I Hooked batteries up directly to the 4 post Baldor 36 volt motor. The first two trys were wired wrong, and only sparked. One terminal goes to A1, then A2 connects to S1, then S2 connects to the other battery terminal.

The Fun part was I has no idea which terminal was what.

After The motor test was successful. I replaced the solenoid and cleaned up the bad cable.

You can see I just left the red wire hanging...

I found the other end. Its the middle post of the accelerator switch.

I used the diagrams to figure out where she blows. The Red is ground and each of the wires around it goes to the solenoids for speed control.

This test is still a failure, but you can hear the speed control Solenoids clicking after the red dangler was connected.

After figuring out that the speed control solenoids were firing but no juice was going. I hardwired the F/R switch and the forward 'noid gave the speed control'noids the juice to control.

As you can clearly see here.

More clearly seen and explained here.

I originally thought this was a 50's EZGO. untill I saw the plate fully cleaned.

Jack lowered, time to see if it will move.

Reverse worked, now time for forward!
wups, that one has my license plate in frame....need to fix that.

Thats where I'm at.

Now its time to start the body work. Wirebrush, steel reinforcement, rust encapsulation, and rear leaf spring replacement (dr side missing 6 inches). I might have to replace both to make them match.

Then fiberglass work on the front. then sand/repaint.

I still have no idea what year this is. Any guesses?
