Need expert opinions on upgrade
So I finally got the OK from my wife on a performance upgrade... I have a 1990 EZGO marathon with a 3" lift kit and larger knobbie wheels with stock 36v motor, etc. (I can post pics if it would help) It currently runs OK on flat ground but runs quite slow (about 2mph) going up the few hills in our neighborhood. I will only occ. being doing any real "off-roading" nor will I be doing any pulling of any kind and am mostly looking to go faster (or at least faster than my friends with newer EZGO's!). I am looking for recommendations on all things req. for the upgrade (motors, controllers, f/r, etc) or even comprehensive kits for this. I plan to stay 36v but 48 is not out of the question. Thanks in advance.

Re: Need expert opinions on upgrade
With the assumption it's a 36v, series cart with a controller:
1) Check the batteries, change if needed. 2) 4GA Wires. 3) 48 volt conversion. 4) Upgraded controller (400 Amp+). 5) Gear change to 8:1 Speed result 20 mph +/- and pretty good up hills and lots of run time. |
