Did you ever get yours out / get that idler flange bushing replaced? Any advice on how to approach mine? Mine's a 91, should be same style / design as yours. I have excessive play at the bottom end (cotter pin end) that creates slop in steering. Thanks for any advice you may have.

No i did not. got side tracked with a 16hp briggs conversion. and rear brake upgrade.

probably a mis alignment causing it to bind. Try flexing the bottom mount where the cotter pin is. May have taken a hit to the front at one time or another. Before you put the idler back in, make sure the shaft is straight and the 2 holes are aligned. If off adjust the bottom to align with the top.

It's a pain. Vice grips and lots of deep creep from.the top, wiggle back and forth while hitting the vice grips with a 5lb sledge . It's probably bent
