Re: VC625 Catastrophic Failure
As promised here are the gory details.
https://photos.app.goo.gl/RB4Ft2hJqQZ1N4HX7 Full analysis of carnage. Nothing to blame on Vegas Carts here at all. This was my fault for sure. When I first did the install and started it for the break in period I had forgot to add oil. It ran for about 3 minutes without oil in the crankcase other than what was left from the factory. At the time it showed no signs of being injured at all, no smoking, and no odd noises. After the first oil change it all of a sudden started smoking, I figured I had overfilled the oil level. The smoking was not excessive mainly on acceleration. One day the smoking stopped I figured the oil level got down to where it needed to be and all was good. Mind you no odd noises no loss of power. Then one afternoon it I was driving along about 3k rpm she started knocking at let loose immediately. Only thing I can figure is the moments on first start with no oil had damaged the valve guides and seals. The engine burned through its oil and starved the rod journal of its oil supply and bang. Expensive lesson learned. |

Re: VC625 Catastrophic Failure
That is correct. It had burned through all 1.5qts of its oil. There were no external oil leaks.

Re: VC625 Catastrophic Failure
I used fender washers under the mounting plate that vegas carts supplied.
