Wanted: Yamaha 48v charger user
I purchased a used Yamaha electric cart that came with a Yamaha 48v charger, model number scr481717. Does anyone know if this charger has a built-in trickle charger function that will allow me to leave it connected after batteries are fully charged?
Thanks, Rob |

This one? Nope, no "trickle", no "float".

That charger is a MAC (Motor Appliance Corp), not Lester. But it was a very solid charger.
Built by Mac , branded as a yamaha. |

Re: Wanted: Yamaha 48v charger user
Was the original poster asking if it's fully automatic? As I have understood thru the years, MAC is. It will turn it's self on and off as needed when battery voltage drops. One "bug" if the AC power goes out...all process stop and will not function correctly until AC power is restored and the dc cord is unplugged and replugged into the car. I guess the is a differance between "trickle" and "fully automatic".

Re: Wanted: Yamaha 48v charger user
Cgtech can you give me the run down on this charger, as I read and you seem to be very knowledgeable on this stuff. Is it a good charger or no, should I upgrade, seems I have a little trouble with using mine, some times it will take right off and some times it shows fault, some times it just shuts off, and I have to unplug it and Plug it back in then seems to work but it has only shown complete 1 time in the last 3 weeks. Hope I didn’t high jack too bad. Thanks for any input on this

Re: Wanted: Yamaha 48v charger user
It is a "multi-stage smart charger", but does not supply any power to the batteries after it has finished it's charge cycle. It is actually pretty smart (code for sensitive), it can detect battery problems, and will shut down if the cycle has taken too long.

Re: Wanted: Yamaha 48v charger user
Campy and cgtech, I am reading the following from an an earlier post and .pdf link by BostonGolf. Is this info not totally accurate? But directly as to what Travvler was asking, this feature if present is neither float nor trickle, but kicks into recharge if it senses voltage less than 2.05v per cell.
#7 FCS Full Charge Sentry, SCR481717 (though probably not on all SCR models) " To verify that your charger has the FCS feature, simply connect the DC output to the battery without plugging in the AC. The LED's on the front of the charger will flash through the self-diagnostic sequence if the unit has FCS." buggiesgonewilddotcom/showpost.php?p=834157&postcount=12 |
