Chargery BMS for 14 module Leaf pack
Anybody using the Chargery BMS? I don't need all the bells and whistles, just want the job to be done. Wondering which one I should go with. I already have the chargery charger. Thoughts? Advice?

Re: Chargery BMS for 14 module Leaf pack
For those interested:
After some back and forth e-mails with Jason Wang, of Chargery, Here is what I have learned: The BMS16, does not manage the individual cells. (apparently it is just for monitoring the cells????) The BMS16T, will work for the 14 module Leaf battery pack, does manage the individual cells, however it is not currently available-they are in the process of updating it and will produce-you can pre-order them, they will be less expensive than the BMS24T The BMS24T, will also work for the 14module Leaf battery pack, does manage the individual cells, is currently available, I've seen them anywhere between $300-$350 before shipping |

Yeah! I thought so as well. Glad I didn't just pull the trigger on it, like I was going to. Price difference between that and the BMS24T is quite significant. Glad I listened to my gut, "there has got to be something majorly different for there to be such a difference in price".

Re: Chargery BMS for 14 module Leaf pack
I am using a Chargery C10325 without a BMS.
I have a few different packs made from leaf modules. I have one in 14S4P. I hooked all the modules together in parallel first to allow them to balance. They all had the exact same voltage after a few hours of being hooked up in parallel. I wont be opting for the BMS Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

If your cells are used, the best option if you are not going to use a BMS is to bottom ballance them, not just get them to the same voltage. |

And monitor the individual cell voltages while charging to ensure your peek voltage cutoff is low enough to not have any single cell go over voltage.

Re: Chargery BMS for 14 module Leaf pack
Thanks for the tips.
I hooked all of the modules in parallel for a day. All modules attained the same voltage. I then reassembled the pack in the 14s configuration and charged it. So far so good. The loading it wont happen til it is installed in the cart Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

Fastest1, getting the batteries to the same voltage level may not always deliver the results You want.
Take readings of all the individual batteries after they are charged and then again the first few times you use the pack. Folks that use Lithium batteries without a BMS typically "Bottom Balance" the batteries, this post explains a little more: http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/elect...ml#post1424445 |
