EZGO Freedom TXT 72V, top speed

Hey folks, we have a 2017 Freedom TXT 72V that is used exclusively for driving around the neighborhood - to/from pool, etc. The battery life is amazing, even when it's in the faster mode (rabbit/turtle button set to rabbit), but the cart will only go about 19-20 MPH.

Any suggestions on how I could make the cart go just a bit faster (23-24 MPH), at the expense of range? Everything on the cart is stock.

An OEM level handset will allow you to adjust it up to 25mph under: Profile>Freedom>2-FWD Speed

Yea, the limits are in the parameters that are set by E-Z-GO, not in the capabilities of the cart or controller.

Thanks.. are there any budget-friendly OEM level handsets on the market? Or can they be rented?

Yes, they can be bought or rented on eBay. You would be looking for a 1313-4401 Curtis OEM Handset.

But the truly amazing changes cannot be done with a handset. With the handset, you can set it up to 25 MPH, With a computer and the right software, you could be running at freeway speeds. Of course you would need the right DOT tires to do it, golf cart tires are a bit too lightweight and small.

I'm not brave enough to try going 60 MPH+ in a golf cart, but there are daredevils out there that would. I'm willing to take my RXV road car up to 45+ MPH when its ready, but I've invested a lot into making the suspension roadworthy, and added disc brakes.

I took ownership of a 2019 EZGO TXT 72V. The cart tops out at 19.5 - 20.0 MPH. I read in this forum that with a Curtis hand held unit you could adjust it up. The dealer stopped by with his handheld and showed me that it is not possible to adjust it above the factory setting of 19.5. I would like to get just a touch more speed (+3.0 MPH) out of my cart.
Any suggestions ?

There is no handset that can access the menus on that controller. It requires being connected to a higher level programmer on a PC or laptop platform in order to access the menus that can set the speed up. Where are you located?

we also just bought a 2019 6 seater 72V EZ go TXT. Would love to have it programmed to increase its top speed to 25 MPH, seems like it can only go about 18-19mph now.

Which county are you in? Braselton is in four counties: Jackson, Hall, Gwinnett, and Barrow.

Half of my house is in Gwinnett and half is in Hall.

We live in Gwinnett County just near three other counties. It’s crazy my neighborhood actually has 3 to 4 different counties in it
