Replacement Rear Seat Footrest
When I first bought this cart, before a total rebuild it had a back seat on it that looked really rough, seat covers were faded and the footrest was rusted out beyond repair. Today I decided to clean up the upper part of the seat and paint and installed it on my cart. It looks a lot better than I would have thought and is real sturdy, I just need to fabricate or buy something to rest your feet on, I found this and it looks like it would work great, it says it is rated for 500lbs, which I understand it wouldn't be able to hold that much on the edges. I already have a 2" hitch to pull my trailer, plus it would be nice to be able to take it on and off. Just wondering if you guys think it would work ok or have any better ideas?

I think that is a great idea. I have the same issue with my step all rusted out.

the only thing it may be a little loose in the hitch mount. you may need to attach something on the ends so it seesaw on you .

Why not? It's worth a shot. If it doesn't work out like you hoped, you'll still have a basket to haul bulky stuff!

It will sea saw on you a bit, plus I would be afraid of people tripping on the railing around the basket.

I'm thinking its worth a try, how much play are we talking about? If its that loose, couldn't I weld some shims around the part that slides in the receiver?

Drill a 9/16" to 5/8" hole in top or bottom of receiver. Weld a 1/2" nut over the hole. Use a short 1/2" bolt to tighten against the basket mount after mounted with pin in place. That will eliminate see saw and rattle.

Re: Replacement Rear Seat Footrest
We did this same thing with a buds workhorse except we used a carrier from WalMart that was almost flat and plastic. We reinforced the welds around the hitch and when done my bud who's 320+ could stand on the side with just a little flex.
