Default 01 ds breaks down

hi guys
im from aus-tra-lia
my oldies golf buggy is killing me
for awhile, it can go ok for a few golf holes, or less, then craps out, but goes again later?
ive had the coil changed, new forward limit switch, new fuel pump.
the dumb aussie mechanics think its the limit switch dropping out but no way, i even changed the yellow plastic bit that pushes it up.
sum drunk put a kng 2 plug in it, should be a 5, i put in a 6 to see if its a heat problem, after reading here more i better check fuel breather hose, although it still dies even with the cap loose. its a real intermittent problem.
whats next? alternator bushes? any more switches that could be failing?
i think the rev limiter is already dsisconnected, i need a beer
thanks

Is is hard to start at times? Like right after it dies, will it want to start but not quite?
After sitting a bit,it will start, run a little while then die?

My 01 started acting like that a week or two ago. It turned out to be the vent jet on the carburetor. After I got that cleaned out well, the problem disappeared. Its exposed so you may not even need to take the carburetor off to take it out and clean it.
Its worth a try anyway.

Its part 13 on this drawing.

I narrowed mine down to a fuel issue. Pulled the hose of the carb and cranked to verify the fuel pump. Fuel spit on the ground nicely.
I then pull the carburetor for a full clean, thinking a float stuck or inlet issue. The inside of the carburetor was surprisingly clean. My first cleaning yielded no result. The second removal and cleaning is when I found that vent jet under standard engine grime.
Cleaning out that jet solved the issue. The thing is, that jet can be removed without taking off the carburetor.
