Default 48v conversion...couple ?'s please

I've been searching for 2 weeks and still can't get all my apples in a basket. So what exactly do I need for the 36v to 48v conversion? And where do I get these parts? It doesn't look like anybody sell
s a "kit". I know i need batteries and im hoping i can fit 8 6v under the seat because the cart will be used often for golf. If not i can settle for 6 8v but from what ive read the charge nor the batteries will last as long. I'm a newbie to the golf cart thing and don't want to waste money on the wrong parts. My cart is a 00' txt
Thanks for any input

I suggest you start at this web site: http://www.cartsunlimited.net/ and either email them or call directly. They have the answers and parts almost in kit form and will follow up with tech support.

All you "need" a controller and solenoid, but you'll probably want to upgrade cables and F/R switch.

There have been a couple threads on stuffing eight 6V batteries under the seat of a TXT, but the F/R assembly has to be modified with a series cart.

Check with Scottyb, he has done it and he sells controller/solenoid kits.

Good luck on the venture.

I am right in the middle of a conversion on a Melex right now. I ordered everything from ScottyB and he has helped me greatly on the install. I would recommend giving him a call. As far as I know there is noone out there that makes it as simple as he does to convert.

You will not fit 8 6volts under the seat unless you relocate the f and r switch the solenoid and controller.

You need:
48 volt charger (carts unlimited has a good one)
48 volt brown top solenoid ( carts unlimited has a good price)
48 volt controller i recommend a 500 FSIP ( carts unlimited)
That will get you started. And batteries

Then after you get addicted to 48 volts you will want to call plum quick and get them to build you a motor. Then call Carts unlimited for a set of disc brakes to stop that beast.

4Gauge battery cables are a must at minimum and if you plan on upgrading the motor i would just jump into 2 gauge.

All this and change back from a 2000 dollar bill

"Easily" doable. Took me months, but I had to do it in my spare time.
