Default Yamaha G8 nothing after it gets hot, good after cool down.

I am working on a G8 that runs fine after new starter/generator, starter relay, carb and belts. The issue is when it gets hot (approx 15 minutes) it dies completely. After a cool down of about 50 - 60 minutes it works again until hot again. Is there a thermal switch or something that might work like a kill switch.

A good first step might be to put a spark tester on during the non running time and see if it is an ignition issue. Your problem might be the igniter failing.

Yeah, anything ignition-related; ignitors, cdis, coils, etc. have a tendency to fail when hot when they are close to failing completely. They will work again when cool but, inevitably, they will fail 100% in due time. Check for spark when the cart is in "fail mode". I bet there is none. From there, you will have to check each ignition component which can be a bear. Personally, I just start replacing things from cheapest to most expensive until the problem is fixed. This may lead to some parts being replaced that aren't bad but I am fine with that in that it forces me to have spares on hand for future testing.

Thanks for the help. Nothing with the spark as figured. Everything ignition has been changed with the exception of the CDI. That will be the big ticket item to replace. Wish it was a G9 then it would only be $18 rather than almost $300.
