Smaller electrical lines on new solenoid..no power.
Hi everyone!
Recently separated, he took the golf cart, no problem take whatever just Go! Sooo I bought one lmao boy has this been a trip! Cart needed a solenoid per seller when I bought it. Pretty much checked that it ran when you hit the gas and loaded it up. Drove it into the garage. Ordered the solenoid, in the meantime it was covered in stickers and the frame is blue pink and yellow..by hand removed all stickers and not intentionally initially but we are now down to wires with the floor and the motor, I've removed everything else!! 🤞 it's one of those, well to paint that I need to remove that and that and so on. Finally Solenoid arrived! Hooked it up and have nothing. No noise, nothing! Attempted checking the solenoid (YouTube) had no clue what I had done wrong so I put the piece back in that the seller had it hooked up with and it worked! I don't even know what this thing is he has it hooked to but nonetheless it doesn't have the 2 smaller lines attached like you would w the solenoid. Checked those and nothing is reading on the meter. Started last night following wires. I've repaired probably 10 different lines that the seller did that were hanging on by very few copper threads. The seller apparently just found what he knew would give power, cut it and twisted together without any coverings. Where is the 1st place you would check to get power to the 2 little lines on the solenoid?? Also I posted pictures but I'm not very familiar hopefully done correct. 2007 G29, although I was told a 2009 lol |

Here's a wiring diagram. Looks like the (+) side comes from the tow/run switch and ground (-)is supplied by the controller.

Does the switch need to be hooked up for the solenoid to work?

Yes. The tow/run switch turns on the power to the solenoid and the controller. The cart can't run without the drive system being powered. Did the seller have some temporary jumper wire arrangement to make it move?

So the golf cart works with this thing hooked up. But the moment I put on the solenoid, I have nothing. Yes the guy said he got sick of lifting the seat for the switch so he ran it upfront, it's now his key switch essentially

Re: Smaller electrical lines on new solenoid..no power.
Everything is hooked up, forward/reverse, the key/tow switch, solenoid and I have nothing. If I put in that thing above that doesn't have the 2 smaller posts like the solenoid does the cart works. 🤦*♀️ The batteries together right now are reading 48.3, they have been out for 3 days while I painted the frame. The solenoid says 48.2. Getting power to the key/tow switch as well as forward reverse.

Bypassed solenoid is a major safety issue! The main reason for the solenoid is to open the power circuit - in case the controller fails full on.

Yes I read that, unfortunately that's why I actually just had the guy drive it on to the trailer and my son drove it into the garage. I have not drove it at all. I figured making sure it ran was sufficient enough to buy it. (It was cheap)
