Default Curtis 1268-5403

I am getting a 2-4 error code. Let me say this is on an HDK. I had to install a whole new wiring harness. The cart turns on and runs but is in limp mode. Everything seems ok. Think the solenoid is bad? Could the controller be bad? It runs in forward and reverse and tow run switch is also functional.

Another question, if there is a 48v 200 amp solenoid, can I replace it with any other golf cart solenoid of that spec? Can I put it a larger 250 amp or higher?

If it will drive more than a few inches, the solenoid is not gonna be your answer.

Can I use a 1268-5504 500 amp controller in place of the 1268-5403? i looked at the pin outs, they are the same. It seems like I could give one a try. The reason I ask is there is one available locally that is in great shape for fairly decent price. I have seen several different controllers used in these carts.

The VCL (Vehicle Control Language) is for a different motor and vehicle. VCLs cannot be reprogrammed very easy, it requires having the correct OS and VCL files from Curtis, and the Curtis software WinVCL to compile them to create a combined file. Something that Curtis never released to the public.

Bob,

I had spoken to a couple of service guys. We have the full programming pack from the manufacturer. Is there a reason that with the OEM programmer and manufacturer program that this can't work? The cart drives with the 5504 controller in it, limp mode though. I think the 5403 controller is bad. I am going to have to get a curtis controller programmed no matter what. This chinese cart is a pain in my a@$ but what can I do?

OEM is only the 4th level in the chain of access levels, User/Service/Dealer/OEM/Factory/Development. I was a Factory level OEM for more than a decade. I am now at Development level. It requires that level to do top level programming of Curtis controllers. If you intend to do any OS/VCL work on a controller, like I mentioned before, it requires Curtis WinVCL, and access to the Curtis database of OS and VCL files. Over the years, I have collected quite a library of files.

Bob,

I have no clue about any of that. I don't know what to do but I have to find something for this cart. I have some files. Should I find another method?
