Need insight to electric to gas conversion
Pretty new to this forum stuff. I have an 87 EZ-GO. All electrical has been stripped out. Looking to put in Predator 420 CC engine. The more I watch YouTube the more confused I get. I plan on using a torque converter with a forward/reverse gearbox to keep wife happy. Not sure which torque converter to get...also confused which "gears and chain" to use. If anyone has done this with an 87 EZGO can you offer some simple suggestions on what to get. Many thanks!!

Try to find an EzGo 4 stroke rear end to make a successful swap

Yep, when I did it, I found lots of gas ezgo donor parts. Made the process soo much easier.

Re: Need insight to electric to gas conversion
I used 420 motorcycle chain IIRC. I went without reverse so I was able to just use the electric rear diff.
Good call on the torque converter as I've seen a few people locally try to go without one and it's either very poor performance or poor longevity or both. I used a smaller gas engine for my old cart so I could use a much cheaper and easier to find go-kart torque converter. for the 420 it's best to do like CG said and look for donor parts. |

Re: Need insight to electric to gas conversion
When you find the donor cart with the 4 stroke rear end in it just turn your back on this project & sink all your funds into the gas cart if that is what you want.

Re: Need insight to electric to gas conversion
The gas donor cart could be a rust bucket, or crashed (like mine was). But like you said, if you find a decent gas cart, just build that!
