Default How to make your Sled Motor haul the mail in your EZGO

So Ive seen it time and time again... People swap a twin 2 stroke motor into an Ezgo 4 stroke cart and it works.. but the cart doesnt get the acceleration and top speed it should...

So here is the solution:

A Polaris ATV Driven Clutch!

The splines line up with the ezgo rear end... Just slide it on, bolt it up and off you go.

This made my cart twice as fast out of the hole and about 10 MPH faster on top. I am running a secondary clutch off of a 07 Sportsman 800 made by Team Industries.... However just about any of the Polaris ATVs will work. (I talked to the tech guru at Team and he said the 800 clutch is the best one to use if I could find one ($80 on Fleabay)
... There are lots of Ranger, RZR, 500, 700, 400 clutches out there.

It is a roller clutch that is fully tunable...

My motor is a yamaha 440 Fan Cooled that makes about 55hp

The cart flys now! So far I have hit 50mph and am still dialing it in. My rear end is 10.5:1 ratio.

Hope this helps some of you out that are building sled powered carts....

I'm glad someone posted this. I asked a few months ago if anyone knew if another clutch would work on the ezgo and no one seemed to know the answer. Now only if we could find one to fit the engines, hmmmm

Hmm sounds like I need to keep my Yamaha 540 twin and do a little chopping up?

If you have a SRV 540 fan find a PSI pipe for it, night and day you will be amazed. Run the high altitude kit in the 540 clutch.

The PSI pipe is awesome, makes it really 'alive', responsive, better midrange by far. Could drive it around 1/4 throttle all day it would spin with no picks. I finally sold the one I had it sat around for years. It could be used on a stock sled you didn't have to do the clutch or anything, not even jetting, but the factory high altitude clutch kit really made it more fun.

Most sleds are 1 3/16 wide belt.

update... So i noticed that throttle wasnt opening all the way with the factory linkage. fabbed up new linkage with longer throttle arm and went out in the road to test. Pulled the front end up and hung a 50yd wheelie. Gonna go ahead and order that polaris secondary. Soooooo freakin fun!!!!

was that with both wheels spinning at the same time? If only one wheel is spinning, it will spin twice as fast. I have been trying to find any gears higher then 12.44/1 for my early 80's rear ends.
