winch install question
There is a thread on here that is a couple years old that got me to thinking about this. It was about installing lights onto a cart with a winch for snow plow purposes and the exacts are different, but made me want to ask the question anyway.
Has anyone ever had an issue with a winch and radio or winch and lights being hooked up to a 12 volt acc battery? The problem was he wanted to install a fuse, but the going concern was that when the winch kicks on and pulls 100 amps or so it would blow the lights first. There was no 12 v acc battery in that case, or so it seemed. I am planning and have everything seperated by switches, but do I need to do anything very specific, or just be careful, put in switches and fuses, and be fine with it? Do I need to put in a winch switch? Thanks and hope this makes sense. |

Re: winch install question
wire the winch directly to the 12v battery with its own fuse.....add an accessory fuse block in which the lights can be powered from.....

Re: winch install question
I have the winch to the battery. I use the contactor leads under the dash to tap 12v to my accessory fuse block.
