Default Yamaha G29 doesn’t move. Solenoid clicks once.

When I put the cart in run the solenoid clicks. If I turn the key on and off I get no clicks. I have voltage at the key and even when the key is turned on.
The solenoid has 51v and when I turn the switch to run I get 51v on the outgoing side but then drops down all the way to 4-6 v.
Replaced throttle sensor and tested other switch on the gas pedal and all is good.

Need help.

With cart in tow when I spin the tires the solenoid will keep clicking.

Ok so I replaced the solenoid and the controller. Still nothing is working. Solenoid clicks on and then clicks off a short time after clicking on.

Ok, so we can say the controller is likely good (based on its behavior). And the tow/run switch is good. Have you checked out the motor? (Or has that been avoided because it's scary & expensive). I mean It has been all of almost 2 days of relying on our advice. You spent money "shotgun style", so dont be mad at us? (We are free, not my normal $98/hr rate when I'm on the clock). We would have led you down a more "test & check" path before buying a new controller.

Check out that motor, and post pics of what you find. I bet it will look roasted. That means take it off & open it up, not "looks fine from the outside". It will probably smell cooked too, once you open it up.

Thank you for the replay. Was planning on pulling the motor off this morning. Will send pics here soon. Worst part about buying the controller was the advise came from a guy who owns a golf cart shop. Grrr. $98 an hour sounds a lot better than the price of the controller. Lol

Will be retuning here in a bit.

Definitely worth checking here first.

Now the question is.... is this repairable?

Looks like toast. The carbon build up is huge. You can try looking at the brushes. You pull the shift and clean it all and put in a new bearing. However, I bet you are done with that motor.

The general grey & crispy appearance of the armature windings are a bad start already. You need to flip that motor over, remove the 4x 10mm bolts, and lift the aluminum cap off, the armature will come with it. This will allow you to get a look at the sparky end, and will finish the story.

Here are some more pics of the motor without the casing.

I am assuming better off buying a new motor?

Thanks for all your input.
