Default Dead spot in motor?

82 36v Club car. I finally got everything working thanks to a lot of help here.

Not every time. But sometimes when you push the pedal it does move unless you rocked the cart. Almost like a dead spot. Is there such a thing. Cart sat for many years.

Could be. I'm not the motor expert but you said it sat for years. Run it and see if it clears up. Might be some light rust in there.

That’s what I’m thinking but didn’t know if someone had seen before. I’m a drag bike guy and electric motors are not my thing. lol. Thank you.

When I first got mine going it suddenly wouldn't go forward. Reverse worked. Went back to it an hour later and working fine again. Occasionally now when you put the pedal down it will hesitate and then lurch forward. Hoping it gets worse so I can justify motor upgrade to wife.

You have a bad set of brushes in the motor or a bad spot on the armature.

Is that something that will get better after running for a while or should i start looking for a motor. I'd just but a new cart but just trying to help my daughter and boyfriend get going.

Just go in and rebuild it. Clean up the commutator, new set of brushes, a bearing and good for another 20 years. Run it until it fails, then your looking at a high price tag to fix.

I’ll have to do some research and do that. Thanks

It should be pretty easy to rebuild. I've done alternators and starters before and they can't be much different.
