FSIP Speed Motor - Max RPM
Hey y’all,
I have a 2017 EZGO w/ a Navitas TSX 440a controller and an FSIP Speed motor. The Cart Is lifted and has 23” tires. The other day I was horsing around on it and playing with the settings and I got it up to 38 mph going down a hill, it wasn’t until afterward that I even thought that might be too fast for the motor. I called FSIP and their tech support couldn’t tell me anything regarding max speeds. I was hoping someone out here might have a little more insight. Thanks! |

Re: FSIP Speed Motor - Max RPM
assuming a gear ratio of 12:44, 23" diameter tires and 38mph = ~7000rpm.

Yeah, that’s the part that I’m concerned about but can’t get info on. How fast can this thing turn before damaging the motor?

Re: FSIP Speed Motor - Max RPM
I would recommend keeping the RPM's max at 6,000. 38 is flat out hauling!!!! I have the same comboi on my Precedent. Love it

Re: FSIP Speed Motor - Max RPM
Just ask JohnnieB what happens when you over-rev a motor going downhill. They go BOOM! Fasten your seat belt because you're coming to an abrupt stop!

Re: FSIP Speed Motor - Max RPM
6k is the recommended max motor rpm for anything that is not banded. The Admiral motors have a small banding on them. We run them at 6200. Freewheeling down hills may be a very expensive and possibly dangerous thrill.
Catastrophic motor failure can result in a sudden rear end lock up at speed. |

Re: FSIP Speed Motor - Max RPM
I think any motor manufacturer can band a motor. Try EMP, they make custom motors to your requirements and do banding on high rpm motors. Drive safe!
