Oil seal install
Ok, putting the whole engine back together... Do you guys put any sort of sealant around the outside edge of the oil seals on the crank? I read somewhere that red loctite sealant was good... Last crank seals I did (78 John Deer Spitfire), I only greased the inner seal and left the outer rim alone... Seemed to work fine...

Re: Oil seal install
I have always just put them as is. I would be hesitant to put anything on them. I would be fearful that loctite would make getting them off a challenge should it ever need done in the future. Likewise, any grease or lube could help them pop off under load which actually happened to me once.
